  • 2nd Annual Sparrow Club Variety Show
    The Stayton High School Sparrow Club is hosting the 2nd annual Variety Show at 7 pm in the Stayton High School auditorium. There will be a wide variety of acts that will be put on by high school students and community members. The cost is $3 for students and $5 for adults. All proceeds will go to the Help Us Help Logan fund. The Sparrow Club is a student run organization that adopts a child with serious medical needs. Our Sparrow, Logan Newell, is a 3 year old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. The Sparrow Club raises money for the family to help off-set their financial needs.   • Stayton Elementary School Parent Teacher Club meeting, 6pm-7pm, Stayton Elementary School Library, 875 N Third Avenue, Stayton. This meeting is open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend. The PTC supports our kids by supporting our school.

  • Regis Live Theater Presents “Life With Father” Regis High School, 550 W Regis Street, Stayton.

    Under the direction of teacher and club advisor, Clara Defilippis, the Regis Drama Club begins its theatrical season with a stage production of “Life with Father.”  Set in an upper middle-class family in 1890s New York, “Life with Father” is a comedy based on the memoirs of Clarence Day Jr.  It is the story of Clarence Day Sr., an opinionated, loud and demanding father, and the family who loves him in spite of it all.

    Cast includes Regis seniors Justin May, Callie Tabor, Lee Miller, Marisa Bender, and Sara Lulay; juniors Nathan Pierce, Ali Crocker and Meagen Usselman; sophomore Nick Kintz; freshman Katelyn Adams; and St. Mary students Kasey Christiansen, Erica Csintalan, John Sampson, Liam Silbernagel, Mandee Bentz and Ella Gustin.

    General seating tickets are available at the door:  Adults $7, Students $5, Children under six (6) admitted free. Curtain at 7pm. Dessert and beverages will be served during Intermission.

  • CFCA Benefit Rummage Sale, 8am-6pm in the Immaculate Conception Parish Center - corner of 6th Street and Elwood in Stayton.  Immaculate Conception Senior's semi-annual rummage sale is a benefit for the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. A wide variety of items both new and used - lots of Christmas decorations, clothes, toys, dishes etc.  If you have items to donate, please bring them to the Parish Center Nov. 20th.

  • Stayton YMCA Manta Rays Swim Team (USA Team members) Swim Meet at Woodburn Memorial Aquatic Center , 190 Oak Street , Woodburn .  10 & Under: Warm-ups 8:00 to 8:45 AM and meet starts at 9:00 AM.  11 & Over Warm-ups:  11:30 AM to 12:30 PM and meet starts at 12:45 PM but could be adjusted earlier or later depending on morning session length.

  • Stayton Planning Commission Meeting, 7pm, Stayton Community Center, 400 W. Virginia St, Stayton. FULL AGENDA.
    The Commission will be holding a public hearing on proposed Code amendments to establish standards for industrial uses.  Under the current Code, industrial uses must meet the same standards as other non-residential uses and the Planning Commission has determined that those standards are not appropriate for industrial development. The Commission will also be continuing its discussion with staff on other possible code amendments. All available documents and staff reports can be reviewed from the public hearings page on the City website.

  • Adult CPR and First Aid Class, 8:30am-3:30pm. Santiam Memorial Hospital—Freres Auditorium, 1401 N. 10th Avenue, Stayton. This safety course trains individuals to respond to emergencies, identify life-threatening conditions provide care, control bleeding, and prevent injuries. This seven hour class meets current ECC guidelines. This class is tailored specifically to the workplace but applies to most any environment. Students are assessed by each skill demonstrated and must pass a written exam. Successful completion certifies the student in Adult CPR for one year and First Aid for three years. Individuals may take the First Aid section alone if possessing a current Red Cross CPR Certification. Cost: $35 per person ($25 for Adult CPR only).     This bazaar was run by the Friends of the Library for 33 years and then passed over to Stayton Christian School which ran it for 2 years. The bazaar is now its' own event.  A new non-profit corporation, the "Stayton Christmas and Craft Bazaar",  was formed to organize and operate the annual Stayton Christmas and Craft Bazaar and have its proceeds donated to various community groups.

    The bazaar is open to craft vendors and non-craft vendors. Booth sizes are approximately 8'X9' and cost $35 for craft vendors and $50 for non craft vendors.  Vendors have until November 14th (extended to November 22) to register, first come first serve. To reserve your space use this registration form or contact Ed Tabor at 503-990-2119 or by email.

It's open to listeners too.

This course provides individuals, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play; and first aid. Students receive a Babysitter’s Training certificate upon completion.   •  KENC Radio Annual Fundraiser and Christmas Show... Back by popular demand...JONI HARMS CHRISTMAS SHOW! This will be held at Regis High School in Stayton in the auditorium... Joni will be joined by her two kids and Jason Barlow... Santa will be there as well as a few surprise guests... This is a fundraiser for Community Radio, Community Television and the Stayton food bank.. Admission is  $20 for a family of 3 or more, $10 per person without canned food or $8 per person with two cans of food... The food bank could really use peanut butter and breakfast cereals or foods high in protein.  The balance of stock from Cartwright's will be auctioned off.. There will be 890 CD's, guitar and bass amps, fixtures and many miscellaneous items donated by listeners and donors. This program will be videotaped for re-broadcast on SCCTV....     Our popular series of safety workshops for agricultural employers is back. The free, half-day, comprehensive seminars are designed for owners, operators, supervisors and foremen — although anyone working in the agricultural industry is welcome to attend. Small agricultural employers attending the seminar will meet one of the four requirements that exempt small agricultural establishments from random OSHA inspections.   • Chemeketa Winter Term Driver Ed class starts: Santiam Center, 11656 Sublimity Rd SE, Sublimity.  Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 12-March 11, 5:30pm-7:30pm.

    The goal of this program is to eliminate preventable accidents and to prepare drivers for a complex driving environment. This traffic safety course is endorsed by the Oregon Department of Transportation and includes 34 hours of classroom and 12 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction.

    Cost for students under 18 with an Oregon instruction permit is $260, and cost for adults with an Oregon instruction permit and/or student with a license is $285.

    To register students will provide a photocopy of permit or license, front and back; a completed enrollment form, and payment. Pre-registration is required.   • Quilt Show Workshop, The Oregon Garden, 879 W. Main Street, Silverton.
    Nancy Lee Chong, a nationally renowned Hawaiian quilting artisan, will present a two-day workshop on "Hand Appliqué Landscapes", where you can learn to turn your landscape photograph into a quilt pattern. All skill levels are welcome and the cost is $225 for both days including lunch. For more details on this workshop download and print the workshop flyer. Lyons Volunteer Firefighters
are accepting new un-wrapped toys and non-perishable food donations now through Dec 15th.  These donations will be distributed locally.  You may drop off your donations at the Lyons Fire Dept., Mehama True Value, Hair-EZ, Lyons Corner Market, Lyons Market, Lyons Library, and Country Video & Variety. We will also have a space at the Canyon Crafters Bazaar at Mari-Linn School and the Flea Market at the Santiam Grange on Nov 15th.
